Jace Smith – Coach

About Jace

Jace was born in Houston and Raised in Dripping Springs and graduated in 2004. Played 4 years on the Varsity squad and lettered 3 years as a Right Handed Pitcher. Jace Earned All district honors all 3 years while adding Team MVP and All Cen-Tex his senior year.

He moved on to Hill Junior College after high school to hold down the Closer role for two years earning the best pitcher award in 2006.

After Hill,  Jace moved on to King College in Bristol, TN to become the Ace of the Staff for two years. His junior year he garnered the best era in the nation with 1.06 and helped his team to a 30 win season. Senior year jace compiled a 7-1 season with a 2.59 era with 87 innings pitched with 95 k’s earning him first team All Conference and first team All Region. At King Jace was 13-5 record with 157 innings with 170 k’s and 20 bb’s, He was top 50 in the nation in 8 individual categories.

After King, Jace’s final goal came true on June 9, 2008 when the Kansas City Royals signed him to a free agent contract. He pitched in the Arizona League as a reliever and was 1-0,  2 saves with 13 k’s in 15 2/3 innings. In 2009 he was signed by the Washington Wild Things out of the frontier league to compete as a starter but retired due to a lingering shoulder injury.

Since 2010 Jace has been an associate scout with the Houston Astros traveling to high schools and Colleges in the South Texas area helping his area scout with reports and running tryouts.
