James Coon – Coach

About James

James Coon was born in Oklahoma, but grew up in Central California where he learned the basics of baseball from his father Mike. It was during his time at Aldrete Baseball Academy and other select teams where James learned the game at a higher level. Throughout this time he had been coached by multiple former MLB players and Division I coaches. During his senior season in high school James was coached by current St. Louis Cardinals bench coach Mike Aldrete. It was in his senior year that he won the leagues most valuable pitching award.

After high school, James attended a handful of colleges, finishing up his career at Culver-Stockton College, a NAIA school in Missouri. Over his four seasons, James accrued over 180 innings of work on the mound. In the summer of 2013, he appeared on the roster of both the Trinidad Triggers and Raton Osos; independent league teams in the Pecos League. Unfortunately, James sustained a shoulder injury which spurred his interest in coaching.

For the past two years James has been coaching select baseball in Dripping Springs. He also currently works at a physical therapy clinic where he uses the insights of physical therapist to ensure proper arm care and strengthening.
