About David

David was born in Longmont Colorado where he had a standout high school baseball career. As a senior in 2001 he received multiple honors consisting of Northern Colorado Conference Pitcher of the Year, selected to the Top 50 Colorado High School All-Star Team, finished 2nd in the state in both strikeouts and overall state pitcher of the year. He was selected to attend the elite Area Code Games, Best of the West Baseball Showcase, and the Colorado Rockies Select Scout team. After he graduated from Longmont High School he was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 8th Round, 240th overall, of the First Year Amateur Draft.

After being drafted, David went on to play 4 seasons in the Padres’ Minor League system. In 2002, with the single A Eugene Emeralds, he was named the San Diego Padres Minor League Pitcher of the Year and ranked 8th in the organization on the prospect list. In the offseason before 2005 David was traded to the Boston Red Sox. He spent 4 years in the Red Sox organization and during that time he made his Major League debut in May of 2006 against the Toronto Blue Jays after being promoted from the AA Portland SeaDogs. During that off season David was invited to the Rookie Development Program held in Washington DC and was selected to play in the Arizona Fall league. In 2008 he split time between AAA Pawtucket where he won 14 games and finished second for the International League Pitcher of the Year voting and the major league team. In 2009, David was traded to the Baltimore Orioles where he spent the entire season playing for the AAA Norfolk tides.

David signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners in 2010. He spent the first half of the season with the AAA Tacoma Rainiers and was called up to the Mariners in late June where he remained for the rest of the season starting in 15 games and getting his first Major League win on August 13, 2010. In 2011 he made the major league team out of spring training with Seattle as a reliever. It was there that David had the most success of his Major League career. At one point in the season, David was leading the American League in ERA. In May of that year David was awarded American League Pitcher of the Week and by mid-season David posted a 2.15 ERA in 55 innings with a record of 5-4. On July 31st, David was traded to the Detroit Tigers and was there for the remainder of the season.

In 2012, David spent parts of the season with the Angels’ AAA Salt Lake City Bees, Anaheim Angels, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Mariners’ AAA Tacoma Rainiers.

David went on to spend half of 2013 and all of 2014 with the Sugar Land Skeeters which is an Independent baseball team in the Atlantic League. In 2014 David finished the season with a record of 13-6, a 2.69 ERA, and was awarded the Atlantic League Player of the Day twice and the Sugar Land Skeeters Pitcher of the Year

Over his 14 year professional career David has posted a 96-102 record with over 1,700 innings and more than 1200 strikeouts

In parts of 5 seasons in the Major Leagues David has a record of 9-19, 4.68 ERA in 209 innings, 91 games, 20 games started, and 122 strikeouts.

In parts of 12 seasons in the Minor Leagues his record is 87-83, 3.78 ERA in 1,500 innings and over 1,000 strikeouts.

David has spent the past 6 years residing in MI with his wife Samantha and their two beautiful children.
